NOGMUN Global Exchange & Diplomacy Fellowship (GEDF)

The NOGMUN Global Exchange & Diplomacy Fellowship (GEDF) is an international exchange and volunteer initiative designed to connect young leaders, university students, educators, diplomats, professionals, and changemakers from around the world with students and communities across Ghana and Africa at large.
Through the program, international participants will have the opportunity to travel to Africa, volunteer alongside NOGMUN during its conferences and community initiatives, facilitate educational sessions, mentor young people, and experience the richness of Ghanaian culture.
At the same time, outstanding delegates from NOGMUN conferences will have opportunities to participate in international exchange programs, leadership experiences, conferences, fellowships, educational initiatives, and cultural programs around the world.
Global Volunteer Exchange
NOGMUN will welcome international volunteers to Ghana to support our conferences and community-based educational and health projects.
Volunteers may contribute through
- Public speaking and communication workshops
- Debate and Model United Nations training
- Leadership and confidence-building sessions
- Career guidance
- Diplomacy and international relations education
- Writing and research workshops
- Entrepreneurship and innovation sessions
- Digital literacy and media training
- Cultural exchange activities
- Mentorship and youth development programs
A major focus of the initiative will be reaching students in underserved and deprived communities, particularly those who may have limited access to international exposure, leadership training, mentorship, and extracurricular educational opportunities.
International volunteers will not simply come to Ghana to teach. They will become part of a two-way cultural exchange, learning from Ghanaian students, communities, traditions, history, and perspectives while sharing their own experiences and knowledge.
NOGMUN International Delegate Exchange
The second component of the fellowship will create pathways for exceptional NOGMUN delegates to experience the world beyond Ghana and Africa at large.
Outstanding delegates may be selected based on

- Commitment to global citizenship
Selected participants may receive opportunities to participate in international conferences, cultural exchanges, leadership programs, educational visits, fellowships, volunteer programs, and partner initiatives in different parts of the world.
These opportunities may be facilitated through NOGMUN's growing network of organizations, youth institutions, diplomatic communities, NGOs, and international partners.
A Two-Way Exchange
The NOGMUN Exchange is built on one central principle:
Exchange should never be one-directional.
We want young people from Africa to experience the world, while people from around the world experience Ghana.
An international volunteer may arrive in Ghana to teach public speaking to students in a rural community, while those same students introduce the volunteer to Ghanaian culture, traditions, food, language, history, and everyday life.
A Ghanaian delegate who demonstrates exceptional leadership at NOGMUN may later travel abroad to participate in an international leadership or diplomatic program.
In this way, NOGMUN becomes a bridge between Ghana and the global community.
Community Impact
The fellowship will prioritize communities and schools where students have limited access to international opportunities.
NOGMUN will work with schools, community organizations, educational institutions, NGOs, and local stakeholders to identify communities that can benefit from:
- Exposure
- Education
- Mentorship
- Opportunity
Our goal is not simply to organize an annual conference. Our goal is to ensure that the impact of NOGMUN continues after the conference ends.
Cultural Exchange Experience
International fellows will also participate in curated Ghanaian cultural experiences. Depending on the program, participants may have opportunities to:
- Visit historical and cultural sites
- Experience traditional Ghanaian cuisine
- Learn elements of Ghanaian languages
- Participate in community activities
- Experience traditional music and dance
- Visit schools and local communities
- Engage with Ghanaian youth
- Learn about Ghana's history and contemporary society
This creates an experience in which international participants return home not simply having “volunteered in Ghana,” but having developed meaningful relationships and a deeper understanding of Ghana.
The NOGMUN Global Alumni Network
Every international volunteer and selected NOGMUN exchange participant will become part of the NOGMUN Global Alumni Network. The network will connect young leaders across countries and provide opportunities for:
- Continued mentorship
- Collaborative projects
- International networking
- Research and advocacy
- Youth diplomacy initiatives
- Community development projects
- Future exchange opportunities
- International conference participation
Over time, this network can become a global community of young people who share a commitment to diplomacy, education, leadership, cultural understanding, and community development.
Our Vision
NOGMUN believes that geography should never determine a young person's access to opportunity.
A student in Northern Ghana and anywhere in Africa should be able to learn from a student in America, the UK, Europe, France, Asia, and Japan, amongst others.
And a young person from those same countries should have the opportunity to come to Africa, learn from our communities, contribute their skills, and experience the country beyond the typical tourist experience.
